Our Meetings

Generally, meetings for the Tampa Chapter are held on the third Saturday of each month, September to May at the Boy Scouts of America Service Center, 13228 North Central Ave. Tampa, FL 33612. Meetings begin at noon but members are encouraged to arrive as early as 11:30 for a time of camaraderie. A typical meeting begins with a short business meeting followed by the program. A light lunch is supplied by the chapter.

 

Wives, family, guests, and visiting members are always welcome.

 

The schedule of the next several meetings is as follows: 

·        December 15, 2018 – We’ll hold our meeting in conjunction with the Wreaths Across America Ceremony at the American Legion Post #5

·        January 5, 2019 – Our annual Officer Installation ceremony at The Rusty Pelican restaurant.

Recent programs

November 2018 – We presented SAR Public Service awards to outstanding first responders in our community

October 2018 – Compatriot Bob Yarnell discussed the Great Compromise of the Constitutional Convention

September 2018 – We presented the SAR Life Saving Medal to two Tampa Police officers

May 2018: Tampa SAR member, Robert Yarnell spoke on “A Revolution not made but prevented”

April: We held our annual ROTC luncheon. Each year we honor the outstanding cadet from each local unit. We appreciate their taking the time to join us.

March 2018: Dr. Roger Smith presented a program on Florida during the American Revolution

February 2018: Michael Francis spoke on Colonial Florida

January 2018: We held our Officer Installation at the Rusty Pelican restaurant and heard Regional Vice President Charles Butler discuss the FLSSAR Strategic Planning process

December 2017 – Following a brief brunch meeting we participated in the Wreaths Across American ceremony with the Tampa American Legion
