President Bolen called the
meeting to order at

The president introduced the
guests.
The minutes of the May
meeting were approved.
The secretary read two thank
you notes regarding our JROTC presentations and reported that 6 years worth of
the chapter minutes are now available on the chapter website. This is part of
the ongoing process to capture the history of the
The treasurer reported receipt
of a check from the Florida Society Endowment Trust Fund in the amount of
$144.00 for reimbursement of one half of our expenses for the JROTC and ROTC
medals. The current balance of the treasury is $2109.65.
The registrar, Luke Lloyd,
gave an update on the status of those applying for membership. Five
applications and 1 supplemental application were recently approved. We have 1
pending membership application at National. He is currently working with 16
membership and 4 supplemental applications.
Luke moved that the chapter
provide an SAR lapel pin to be presented to new members. The cost is $4.00.
Richard Hardesty seconded the motion which passed without dissent.
Allen Bell gave a progress
report on the Color Guard. We need to decide on a name, type of uniforms and
level of commitment. The president gave some background on this idea for the
benefit of the new members and guests. Allen will email those who have expressed
an interest to move forward with the idea.
There being no further old business
the meeting recessed
for lunch.
President
Bolen reconvened the meeting. Under new business, he suggested that we move the
November meeting to the 2nd Saturday of the month which would be
Nov. 11th. Luke pointed out that this was Veterans Day and might
affect attendance. Motion passed. President Bolen reviewed the meeting topics
for the remainder of the year.
Next the President presented
the new members with their certificates. Roger Quackenbush, Luther Lloyd II,
Luther Lloyd, III each accepted their membership into the SAR.
Dwight Tetrick
was next presented an oak leaf cluster for his Liberty Medal. That brings his
total recruiting to 40 members.
Continuing under new
business, Dwight asked for the floor and for the benefit of the new members and
guests recounted the chapter’s efforts to plan and dedicated the Liberty Tree
at Al Lopez Park. The city presented Dwight with a plague in appreciation for
our efforts. Dwight presented the plague to the chapter for their archives.
Over many years Janett Tetrick provided a great
deal of service and support to the chapter. Her geological assistance aided any
number of
Janett recently lost her battle with cancer. She will be
greatly missed by the membership who counted her a true friend. President
Bolen, on behalf of the membership announced that Janett
would be receiving this President’s award posthumously. Dwight received the
award on Janett’s behalf. Liz Becraft,
a life-long friend, shared with the members a delightful story about Janett revealing a side of her
personality not know to most.
Roger won the 50/50 drawing
and donated his share to the chapter. The treasury was thus enriched by $16.00.
President Bolen led the
recessional. Chaplain Hardesty gave the benediction. The meeting adjourned at
