Minutes of the
President Neuguard called the meeting to order at
Members present: Luke Lloyd,
Cy Gamber, Don Weir, Dick
Hurley, Marty Miller, Ed Neuguard, Alan Bell, Robert
Yarnell, and Kevin Yarnell.
Welcome
guests: Jeanne Lloyd, and Kyle Barbieri
The president introduced the
guests.
Our speaker, Kyle Barbieri, spoke prior to lunch so that he might finish in
time to travel to a weekend class he is teaching. Mr. Barbieri
is a Social Studies instructor at
The question and answer
session that followed was extensive and proved the interest of the members in
the presentation but also furthered our appreciation for Mr. Barbieri’s knowledge. We have extended an invitation for
him to join us next year.
The meeting recessed for lunch.
Following lunch the
President reconvened the membership for the business meeting.
The minutes of the September
meeting were approved with the correction that Don Weir was present.
Allen Bell discussed the
color guard’s participation in the Town and Country Veterans Day parade. The
date is not certain. Allen will find out and let the color guard member’s know.
Also, we’ll plan on being in uniform for the December meeting with the CAR.
The secretary read an
invitation from the Hillsborough County JROTC programs for a Veterans Day
program, November 3rd, at
The Treasure reported a
balance of $2081.10
The registrar, Luke Lloyd,
gave an update on the status of those applying for membership. He has spoken to
4 prospects in the last few weeks.
Allen Bell reported that
next month’s meeting will be our awarding of our Law Enforcement Award to a
local sheriff.
Our newsletter continues to
struggle for a variety of reasons. The secretary was asked to send a simple
mailing as a means of providing notice of the next meeting.
The nominating committee did
not have a report ready. Election of
officers will be held next month. A slate of officers will be presented at that
time and nominations will be taken from the floor as well.
The secretary has asked the
current Florida Society President, Grant Wallin to
attend our January meeting so that he might install the officers and speak to
the members. Our usual date, the third Saturday, conflicts with the State
Society’s Winter Board of Management meeting. The membership agreed to move the
January meeting to the 2nd Sat. if our meeting room is available.
Dick Hurley won the 50/50
drawing. The treasury was thus enriched by $5.00.
President Neuguard led the recessional. Chaplain Llyod
gave the benediction. The meeting adjourned at
