The minutes of the November
meeting were approved.
The secretary reported on
the collection of dues and reminded the membership of the next Board of
Management meeting in
The Treasurer reported a
balance of $3,194.96 and petty cash of $28.26. The balance is inflated with the
2010 dues that have yet to be paid to National. The treasurer transferred
$70.00 from petty cash to the checking account.
Luke Lloyd gave a brief
report on his activity as registrar. The potential list now stands at 54. Seven
applications and one supplemental are at National. William Vassar was approved.
He announced a Genealogy workshop at the
Luke also reported that Rod Stebbins spent nearly a month in the hospital and was, at
one point, near death. He returned home a few days ago. Luke suggested phone
calls and cards from the membership would be appreciated.

personal privilege to announce the publication of his book, “Out of Darkness“.
As he put it, the completion of the book should be an encouragement to us all
as we contemplate attempting new things.

The President called the
meeting to order and presented the SAR Law Enforcement medal to John Vallejo.
Officer Vallejo works for the Tampa Police department having spent 19 years as
a traffic and homicide investigator. He was chosen for the award for his
extraordinary work in the area of DUI arrests. Officer Vallejo has been a DUI
investigator for 14 years and has been responsible for over 2,200 arrests.
Further, he conducts education programs and participates in community events to
raise awareness to the problem of drinking and driving. Since 1998 more than
80,000 students have participated in an education program originated by Officer
Vallejo.
A lively question and answer
session followed the presentation which undoubtedly added to the knowledge of
the membership.
