of Chapter Meeting
Meeting
date: April 20, 2013
Call to order: A monthly meeting of the
Sons of the American Revolution was held at Piccadilly Cafeteria, Tampa,
Florida on April 20, 2013. The meeting convened at 11:49 am, President John Skillman presiding, Mike Frayn,
secretary.
Compatriot
Jack Bolen gave the invocation. President John Skillman led the Pledge of
Allegiance and the SAR Pledge. President Skillman gave a brief description of
the SAR for the benefit of the guests.
Compatriot
Paul Farley agreed to perform the annual audit. Compatriot Dick Young agreed to
supervise the audit.

· Attended the Desoto DAR meeting this month. Presented the SAR Medal of Appreciation to Rhoda Garcia and Mimi Leroy-Marler.

Committee Reports:
· Program and Events Chairman: Compatriot Young reported that our May speaker will be a representative from the Veteran's Memorial Park. Compatriot Mike Frayn arranged for the September speaker who will be a representative from Honor Flight. He reminded the membership about the upcoming Veterans Administration Wheelchair games in July.
· Color Guard: Not present. Nothing to report.
New Members: President John Skillman inducted Compatriot Matthew Garcia and presented him with his membership certificate. President Skillman also presented Alexander Garcia's certificate to his mother, Rhoda Garcia.
Compatriot Jack Bolen presided over the remainder of the meeting. He introduced the cadets present. Lt Col Guy Walsh spoke to the membership and guests about the Army Creed and asked the cadets to recite it.
Compatriot Bolen arranged for several members to speak briefly about their education and careers for the benefit of the cadets. He included a brief description of his education and career. The following members spoke: Compatriot Dick Young spoke about his education and career path as a CPA. He is presently the CFO of Pasco Hernando Hospice. Compatriot Charles Klug spoke of his education and career path as an attorney. He is currently the General Counsel for the Tampa Port Authority. Compatriot Luke Lloyd spoke about his education and career path in the Army. He is retired from the Army and rose to the rank of Colonel.
Compatriots Jack Bolen and John Skillman presented the following cadets with the Bronze JROTC Medal: Philip Brewster, Hillsborough; Gabriel Adams, East Bay; Jeremiah Iverson, Bloomingdale; Jethro Mejia, Newsome, Austin Kelley, Strawberry Crest; Henry Meyer, Robinson; Colt Pauley, Brandon; Jonathan Glaser, Middleton and Roland Sweeting, Sickles.
Announcements:
· Our next meeting will take place on May 18, 2013.
· There is a state Board of Management Meeting in Kissimmee May 3 - 5, 2013.
Guest Hans Glaser won the 50/50 drawing. He donated his winnings to the chapter.
Compatriot Jack Bolen led the closing prayer. Compatriot John Skillman led the Recessional.
