The
December meeting of the Tampa Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution will be
on Saturday, December 21st at the Rusty Pelican Restaurant at Rocky Point. The main event of the meeting will be the
Installation of Officers.
American Revolution Notes
With
the peace treaty ending the War for American Independence signed and ratified,
the British evacuated
On
December 23rd,
"Having now finished the
work assigned to me, I retire from the great theatre of action; and bidding an
affectionate farewell to this august body, under whose orders I have so long
acted, I here offer my commission, and take any leave of all the employments of
public life."
When news of this reached
Europe, many people could not believe that Washington had voluntarily
relinquished power. This act, along with
his handling of the Newburgh Conspiracy cemented in place the idea of the
military being subservient to the civilian political power.

One of the duties of the
Chapter Chaplain is to send cards to our members that are sick. If you know of
anyone that I need to send a card to, please mention it at our next meeting.
Another duty is to send a sympathy card to the family of a member who has
passed away.
